1. How will my child be cared for
in an emergency?
If there is a natural disaster (fire,
tornado, etc.) the children will
be taken to a "safe place"
on the property until danger is
past. If the emergency requires
being removed from the campus, the
children will be transported in
the school van and/ or bus to a
safe place. Parents will be called.

4. How do I know when there is a
field trip scheduled?
Notice of field trips is given in
the weekly newsletter. For preschoolers,
a form is posted listing the day

6. How do I keep up with my child's
progress?
Preschoolers receive bi-annual development
evaluations. Elementary students
receive 4 quarterly annual evaluations.
Preschool parents receive a daily
report which addresses potty training,
eating, play time, and any special
notes. Grades K-3 maintain a notebook
which goes home each day and requires
a parent signature. The notebook
includes special events, homework
assignments, and any special notes
from the teacher. A notebook for
grades 4-8 is maintained on a daily
basis and includes assignments,
grades, and any individual notes.
This sheet is sent home weekly and
requires a parent's signature.

7. What type of discipline is used?
First, redirection, refocusing,
and stating what is not appropriate
(i.e. "That is not acceptable
language for school"; "Johnny
is not for hitting".) If child
does not change behavior, there
is removal from the situation. A
child may be separated from the
group. Child must state what was
happening, why it was happening,
and what future choices will be.
Older students may be required to
write a paper answering the questions:
What did you do or say? How did
it affect the other person? How
did it affect you? What other options
could you have chosen? What did
you learn from this experience?

8. What is the advantage of a multi-grade
classroom?
A child may be working on different
grade levels in various subjects
and still be with his/her peers.
More-knowing students help less-knowing,
and thereby reinforce concepts within
themselves. Students can develop
leadership skills. Students are
with the same teacher so progress
is continual, rather than "starting
over" each school year.
