ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
TESTING
AND EVALUATION
Formal and informal assessments
are used for the purpose of recognizing
strengths and weaknesses and for
planning programs for academic development.
Standardized tests are administered
to aid in placement of students
into appropriate classes, to gather
information to help the teacher
plan effective academic programs,
and to monitor year-to-year academic
achievement.
Teacher-made tests are used
to teach test-taking strategies,
help students develop study skills,
and assess the students' understanding
of concepts.

in each subject. Social development
and work/study skills are also indicated.
Students in the Upper Elementary
Grades are required to complete
a self-evaluation form to help them
learn to realistically evaluate
personal progress.
